Founded in 1994 by the Lompoc Valley Art Association, the Cypress Gallery showcases the art of over 60 well known local artists. Art lovers will find a variety of fine art in the Gallery: watercolors, oils, acrylics, pastels, mixed media, photography, ceramics, jewelry, souvenirs, and great gift ideas. Prices are very reasonable and one of the artists is always available to assist you.

Each month brings a new exhibit to the Cypress Gallery, often with a new "Featured Artist" show in the South room. Preview this month's gallery show below or browse a directory of some of our Cypress Gallery artists on our Artist Directory page. Our artists also have rotating shows at the Lompoc Hospital and in several locations around town. To visit these locations, please check out the Traveling Art Show schedule.

September Featured Show

"By the Sea"

by
Jon Robert Lyra and Judith Grames-Lyra

August 26 - September 28
Reception: Friday September 5, from 5-7 PM

By the Sea

Seascapes, as well as escapes into the imagination (using water related subject matter), is the theme for an exhibit of art work by featured local artists Jon Robert Lyra and Judith Grames-Lyra, August 26 through September 28, at the Cypress Gallery, 119 East Cypress.

"I consider myself a realist with impressionistic influences," stated Mr. Lyra, who said he is influenced by Andrew Wyeth, Vincent Van Gogh, Chuck Close and Norman Rockwell, to name a few. He likes to work in acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. Jon

Ms. Grames-Lyra says she is challenged by the watercolor medium but also paints in acrylics. "I usually take a realistic approach to my painting, but sometimes a flight into fantasy is necessary to express a concept or idea," she admitted.

Both award winning artists are members of the Lompoc Valley Art Association. The public is invited to a reception to meet the artists at the Cypress Gallery on Friday, September 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Cypress Gallery is open every day except Monday, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 7371129.
